A magical Saturday on the snow at the Doganaccia
On March 10th at the Doganaccia, on the Apennine Mountains, we made a dream come true: bring children in protected discharge (and their families) to see the snow.
A dream come true!
Saturday March 10th 2018, we organized a day on the Apennine Mountains, at the Doganaccia, where we were able to bring some children on protected discharge (along with their families) to see the snow: a dream come true!
The group consisted of 25 people: besides the “Meyer families”, there were also Donata (responsible for Casa Matilde – Caritas Florence), Barbara and Salvatore (nurses of the ICU of the Meyer Hospital), who dedicated their free day to our initiative, and, of course, our amazing volunteers. Everyone pitched in and contributed to make this day so special, starting from Sefir Bus Firenze, the bus company, which decided to donate its services for the entire day.
A unique warmth and enthusiasm
Once we arrived at the Doganaccia, what struck us was the great enthusiasm and warmth with which we were welcomed by all of the staff: the workers, the ski instructors, the parents of the Doganaccia Ski Club, the Ceccarelli family, everyone, every single one of them made a huge effort to ensure that everything worked out perfectly so that even the more fragile children could fully enjoy this amazing opportunity.

A day we will remember forever
It was an amazing day, filled with emotions that will remain forever in our minds and in our hearts; we are used to see “our” children in closed rooms and limited spaces, so watching them run with excitement, go down slopes with sleighs, try to ski, roll over in the snow and jump and scream with joy was the most incredible reward we could ever receive. “Our” children, and especially their parents, showed great courage and lots of faith in us… thank you Alessia, Davide, Matteo, Isaia, Maya, Alex, Alessandra, Ilari.
